Australian photos

some photos i have taken while roaming Oz

bee and bottlebush flower

- thank you bee for flying into the photo for me

washed away

- overnight the waves washed away my placement of three rocks.

I like the idea of photographs being a frozen drop of your life

Can you see the world famous artist I am influenced by in the photograph?

this mangrove tree

has been at Moona Moona creek for as long as I can remember, and I love trying to photograph it – I don’t think i’ll ever be able to take a photograph that I’m completely happy with of this mangrove tree

Husky pool 9430

like the mango tree I like to take more photos every time I see it again

PC180017

make the trip

if you are in FNQ and can head up to the tablelands to see the Giant Fig trees

well named

I like the name of this flower – it’s such a simple and suitable name

todays’ favourite photo

- is this one

31 today

- the weather today where I am is supposed to be 31 degrees.

why didn’t i check the prediction and head for the beach?

why are bubbles interesting?

I find bubbles add that extra element of interaction within a photograph, and that makes the photo have a dynamic range in sense

I’ve taken a couple of photos of this girl with bubbles that have become my favourite images.

It may just be that the bubbles make the image recognisable as being underwater.

it touched my leg

- and then I realised it was just seaweed

I love the colour of the sand and clear water of Jervis Bay

simplicity

- some of my favourite photos have not a lot to them

I spent some time on sunday watching waves being pushed to shore thinking about the energy within the wave

Interestingness

- this photo is rated as the most interesting on my flickr account

I wonder where the pippies joined the bottle and how far it has travelled to arrive on the beach on Fitzroy Island in FNQ

Just from the nearest boat?

or from the other side of the world?

my aussie summer

has been chasing the new chooks around

and wondering why there is a gate here

look up

watching over our christmas outdoor lunch were these two young birds

plans for the beach

I’m making plans to be by the beach, like most new years eve in summer

Ideally I will be able to take a photo like this one – perhaps with a bigger wave

the sun

has a very big role
on an individual

this photo was taken under water, laying the camera on the bottom of the ocean of not very deep water

I am really impressed with the intensity of the blue sky and the shape of the sun the lens and water created

mt martha beach

… is great

- beautiful blue green water and slightly protected, i can see why people live in this village by the sea as stated by the sign welcoming you into the town

most people probably would not think it was by the beach from the name and maybe that’s a locals secret

grains of sand

I was attempting to photograph the pier, and ended up with lots of photos of sand.

taken at Point Lonsdale, Victoria – Australia

winter at Heidi

a fairly rainy day

on top of the island

horse carriage vs tram

Does any other place in Australia have tourist trams and also tourist horse rides, running side by side in the city?

Melbourne has lots of odd one-off things that happen here and there, across the city and out in the further sprawling 4 million + people.

huge!

now in Melb town

help required

if you have spare time, or an opinion or both

would you help me choose just one photo from this collection

i’ve already narrowed it down 350+ to 150+ and now have less than 30

i just need one!

rain fell continuously

in a visit to the Grampians, it rained and then a bit more rain

see those claws

they hurt.

Every morning wandering on the walk up and over the hill as a primary school kid watching out for magpies.

The days I forgot it was usually too late by the time I heard the wings flapping.

FNQ plants and leaves

everything grows bigger in FNQ even the massive oversized lollipop leaves

gumtree blossoms

Australian Spring has gum trees flowering and the birds waking everyone up very early.

Mango tree

the cane wall is starting to grow up behind the Mango tree, in FNQ

seagulls – Little Bay

is really just a large bird bath

in the details

i love the details of the Australian landscape

and how nature is never still

and always shifting

an old tyre

i’m not sure how the tyre managed to get into the rock pool at Little Bay, as it is a fair way to the closest road

Little Bay

has a rock pool

and in winter some people still go swimming

and seagulls bathe

at Little Bay beach in Sydney

Leura Cascades

In the Blue Mountains, on a cool and drizzly day

fun little walk

is it cold enough

for snow yet?

bring on Melbourne winter

along my street

are some bright red flowers that attract lots of bees – my neighbour saw me photographing them, and told me to visit earlier in the day to photograph the birds which these flowers also attract

place to visit, not so secret

it’s not so secret, but to get there you really need to drive or be taken down to the Prom

have you been to the Prom?

Wilson’s Prom – quickly picked

here are a few quickly picked images from my short day trip into Wilson’s Prom in Victoria

i took so many more, it was a beautiful day and an amazing place to be on a public holiday

not too many people were around

rain was promised

with water like a ‘jewel sea’

and i did quote to myself wandering around ‘i love a sunburnt country’

a constant source of conversation in Melbourne

what is the weather doing?

looking left and looking right

do you know where this is at Jervis Bay?

on the creek

looking to the left

and looking to the left …. no road rules needed on the creek

a photo or two from the Grampians

when i visited the Grampians i found waterfalls and flowers

by the river in Melbourne

its raining today in Melbourne, and here is what i think it looks like right now in the city

what bird is that?

there is a book called ‘what bird is that’ and i wish i’d had the day i took this photo, as the lady feeding the bird told me it was a king parrot.
politely i disagreed and suggested it maybe a rosella?

if i only had my library on my travels to prove my point

Kangaroo at Namadgi National Park

Hot chips

Seagulls at Apollo Bay scrambling for the chips

my cousin has stubborn sheep

i dont blame the sheep for being stubborn, they had been through a fire near Bathurst, then penned up and trucked out west

these sheep were very hard to get off the truck

click in the image to see the missing half of the panorama, it has a complete black border

Seagulls

eating fish and chips at the beach always attracts seagulls

this was taken on a windy day at Apollo Bay, on the little beach near the wharf, me testing out a friend’s nikon camera

driving to the end of the road

end of the tarred road in Far North Queensland
will take you to where the rainforest meets the sea

its really hard to show how green and enclosed the rainforest feels

explaining to my friends why they could not swim in the water because of box-jelly fish
- stingers – made me feel like a bad person

rainy day photography

playing with settings and misting the lens, decided it works ok, not fantastic, although i may not be happy since it was such a dark rainy day

another photo

some where highly photographed is Sydney Habour

i’d like to say it is only sleeping

a road less travelled

or a map of my life so far perhaps

taken at low tide at Plantation Point, Vincentia – Jervis Bay

Sunrise

the photo above …. was taken in Victoria on a beautiful sunrise that i kinda woke up to, rather than got up before…

secret little place in Port Hedland that i think fishermen don’t want anyone to know about as you can drop your boat in from the caravan park – so simple and easy

taken in Australia

i love to drive/fly all around Australia

- have love will travel (a line from a song – the black keys)

and travel i do
